My best friend has been in Paris all year, I am painting dresses for a project tomorrow. She tells me every day what she sees on the street. I'm dreaming of new images and planning spontaneity. I want to create 1000 more shoots with the new images I have in my head.
While minimalism is traditionally a cold expression exuding little emotion, I've chosen to emulate a mood that serves as an incubator for warm, spring-like feelings. By representing the warm touches in sunny studios, window-pane ceilings, and feather minis, minimalism luxe reveals a story with a softly industrial approach.
I love intricate interiors. I used to walk through the Ritz Carlton below Central Park in New York and pretend I was a guest, winding through the tea rooms and MCM boutique in heels. There is a set of restaurants in the basement of the hotel where you can get sushi decorated with real flowers.
Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti held their SS13 fashion show in a ballroom of the hotel, and I found out about it and snuck in. This was actually one of the easiest shows I've snuck into. I talked to a videographer at the door and he offered to introduce me to Alberta Ferretti, but I was too shy at the time. When I was working at Albright Fashion Library, I was surrounded by her gowns constantly; it was there that my love for her designs really developed. Ball gowns aren't the most practical, but if I had a special event to go to (or to dress) I would totally choose Alberta Ferretti.
